I chose to focus my piece on cicadas. This summer will be a special occurrence of a double brood emergence an event that hasn't taken place since 1803. In honor of this event, the nostalgic sound, and cicada shells scattered about at home I wanted to represent my personal stories of summers growing up in the southern U.S.
